My son is the funniest, most bubbly, handsome, vibrant 2 + years old kid you will ever meet! Riding his bike and playing in water are his absolute favorite things to do. He loves Bananas. At the moment, he’s obsessed with shooting guns(😱) and transforms EVERYTHING to a gun - he even eats his biscuits into gun shapes and goes “pow! pow!” ( DIYing it already 😁)
For activity week at his school this week, he was asked to dress in an old school outfit on Thursday for old school day and as a security personel on Friday for career day.
First I heard about it last minute and even though I was able to throw something together for his old school costume, it was too late to make a security outfit from scratch.
Secondly and most importantly, I wasn’t going to spend money panic buying an outfit that he was only going to wear for just one day (don’t judge me 😒)
Anyways, I decided to work with what I have/had and DIY it!
Materials
Shirt 1

Shirt 2

Shirt 3 - the main shirt

Aso Oke fabric - you can use any fabric that has horizontal strips

Fabric Glue
Thread
Steps.....
Step 1
Detach the turn up strips from the sleeves from shirt 1.

Step 2
Cut out two pieces of the aso oke using a length that is about 3 times the width of the strips from step 1 above.
i.e length of one aso - oke strip = 3 x width of strips from step 1

Step 3
Fold the each aso-oke strip as seen in the picture and seal the open side.

Step 4
Insert the strips into the folded pieces on aso oke.

Step 5
Carefully sew the two strips onto the each shoulders lines of shirt 3.

Step 6
Sew the excess strips gotten from shirt one onto the top of the pocket

Step 7
Cut out the star and ball shapes from shirt 2 and place on shirt 3 as seen below. I sewed on the ball and glued the star to the blue strip.

Final Look

Just like that, my agent will be reporting for career day in character!

Note - You can detach everything after the day is over and get your simple shirt back. (WIN - WIN)
